The beach is my happy place
Do any of you guys instantly feel at peace when you spend a few hours or even a full day at the beach? Like your mind can finally rest, and all the things that stress you out in life go away? There is a name for the effect the beach has on our brains! You have no idea how excited I was when I found out this information! Since science proves it, I no longer feel like I am the only one who believes that the beach is the best place to be when I need to just relax and let all of my worries drown in the sound of the waves crashing. It’s called “The Blue Space.” Lol I was totally thinking that the name would be some outrageous one, mainly because scientists gave it this name, but it was’t. It’s such a simple name I would have though my two year old niece made it up! Anyways… The Blue Space refers to the effect that the smells and sound of the ocean have on our brain. It makes us feel at ease, almost in a hypnotic kind of way. Scientists say that it’s a change in the way our brain reacts to its environment leaving us feeling extra happy, relaxed & reenergized! The Blue Space effects us in four different ways.
1.) It reduces stress (duh).
Water is nature’s cure on things that stress us out! Water from the ocean is full of naturally occurring positive ions that are proven to make us feel more at ease.
2.) It boosts creativity (yay).
Being at the beach allows us to clear our minds, and creatively approach on going problems in our lives. The beach gives us a feeling of calmness that allows us to tune everything else out and reflect on what it is we have been needing to focus on! This is much like meditation. The beach is my favorite place to meditate (most people probably think I am sleeping, but really I am meditating) haha.
3.) Helps decrease feelings of depression.
The calming sound of the waves and the sight and smells of the beach can put us into a meditative space. It ultimately allows us to clear our mind and reflect on life in The Blue Space, away from the problems and things that stress us out in our daily life.
4.) It will change your perspective on life.
Like I have said many times, connecting with nature in general is healthy for our mind and bodies, but being at the beach helps us connect with our soul.
The beach always helps me when I am feeling down. It will forever be my second home I am telling you, if you haven’t believed me before, you can’t not believe me now, because science has proved it
