WHY I STOPPED DRINKING SOY MILK

I hate that I had to stop drinking soy milk. Almost every morning I would order myself a hot grande soy latte from Starbucks! A grande size contains 16 oz. of soy milk, so if I drank a soy latte 3 days a week that would mean I would be drinking 48 oz. of soy milk a week. So, if you have been following my blog for the past two weeks, you would know that I just recently went to the doctors for a bad case of indigestion. During my visit I talked to my doctor about soy. She told me that everything is good in moderation. She then asked me how much I drink in a week, and I told her maybe 48-64 oz. And she said that was way too much!!! I was in shock. And mad that my Mother was right about soy milk all along haha. She always saw me drinking soy milk and she told me to stop because it can cause cancer. So after my doctors visit I made the switch to almond milk lattes instead. I am drinking almond milk matcha green tea lattes because I can’t handle just the almond milk latte yet. Haha. I also have done my own research on soy and looked to livestrong.com for more info. On their site it states that large amounts of soy have the potential to alter menstrual cycles and sex hormones in women, and stimulate breast cancer cells, and increase a woman’s risk for developing uterine cancer. Those are all very bad concerns that I have to keep in mind if I want to live a healthy life style. So, instead of being worried and scared of developing something horrible, I quit drinking the soy milk all together. I love almond milk and add it at home in my cereal, I just don’t ever drink it by itself. And my household doesn’t drink dairy either. So if you are like me, and love soy milk, you may want to rethink the amount you are consuming. I just thought I would share my experience with you and the research I have done just in case you weren’t aware, and also because soy milk is thought to be a healthy alternative for dairy. It does have it’s healthy benefits, but consuming large amounts may be a bad idea. Just remember everything in moderation is okay
